海外の大学って、日本の大学に比べ長期休暇がとっても長いって知っていますか？
私の通っている南オーストラリア大学は、夏休みが１１月から２月までなので、３ヶ月以上あります。あれ？夏休み？と思ったそこのあなた、オーストラリアは南半球にあるため季節が逆になりますから、日本とは休暇の時期も逆になるんですよ。
今回は、アデレード紹介企画第２弾！と言うことで、アデレードで学べる大学をご紹介します！また、インテリア建築コースに通う私の年間スケジュールも大公開しちゃいます！ご自身の大学のシステムといかに異なるか比べてみてください。オーストラリア留学に興味がある人、必見です！

アデレードにある大学紹介
アデレードは南オーストラリア大学とアデレード大学の二つの大学が有名です。どちらも日本人は少なく、ある程度の英語力は必須になります。
世界ランキング１０６位の歴史ある大学です。南オーストラリア州ではトップと呼ばれるほど高い教育を受けることができます。なんと言っても、キャンパスがとってもおしゃれです。また、留学生がたくさん在籍しています。留学生への入学ルート、２年生への編入ルート（パスウェイ）も豊富にあるのが人気の理由です。

南オーストラリア大学は、１９９１年に創立された新しい学校です。世界ランキングは２９５位とアデレード大学より下ですが、留学生へのサポートがしっかりしているのがおすすめです。USASAなど、クラブもたくさんあります。デザイン、建築、アート、メディアなどクリエイティブなコースがたくさんあります。
UniSA留学生年間スケジュール公開
オーストラリアは二学期制度をとっていて、２月と７月の2回入学のチャンスがあります。ただ、７月入学は、‘MID YEAR’と呼ばれ受講するコースの順番が正規のものと異なりかなり大変になるので、私はおすすめしません。（経験談）
日本とはココが違う！①〜入るより出る方が大変〜
海外の大学は、『入るより出る方が大変』と言われますがその通りです。授業料は、国公立の３倍くらいします。中途半端な気持ちで入ると確実に後悔するので覚悟とやる気を持って、本当にやりたいと思う学部を選びましょう。
簡単にいうと今あなたが大学で学んでいることを全部英語でやっていると思ってください。日本語でも難しいことを英語で学ぶのは本当に大変だなと、日々思います。私は、建築を学んでいるので、資料を読んだり建築基本法などを理解するのが難しいです。
日本とはココが違う！②〜学ぶのに遅すぎることはない〜
日本は、高校卒業後すぐに大学に行くことが一般的ですが、海外は違います。自分が学びたいと思ったら入る、年齢は関係ありません。私はこの文化がとても好きです。実際クラスには２０代から５０代の様々な年齢の人がいます。元々違う仕事をしていたという人もいれば、結婚して子育て中の人もいます。パッションのある人が多いのでとても勉強になります。
日本とはココが違う！③〜授業数〜
基本的に、一学期間（１２週）で３〜５個コースを取ります。１コース一日と考えるのが妥当です。１教科の単位が重いのが特徴です。一般教養のようなものはなく、専門的に学びます。日本の高校、大学のようなシステムとは全く違い、朝から一限、二限となっているわけではありません。
私の場合（２０２２年2月）３コースとっています。２コース（短期６週）でその後１コース（６週）遅れてスタートします。単位はそれぞれ４.５、４.５、９です。月曜日のクラスは、９：００〜１１：００までセッション（任意）もう一つが１１：００〜１６：００で、途中お昼休憩を挟みます。（約４時間）学校に行くのは週2が多いです。インテリア建築のコースなのでテストはなく、課題になります。クラス外の時間に家で作業することがメインで締切間近は徹夜で大変です。

Adelaide uni has a high reputation and their courses are taught well. The campus is beautiful and conveniently in the city, surrounded by public transport. It’s close to my home and the students and staff are all friendly. The teachers have a welcoming learning environment and care about their students.
-HOW IS UNI LIFE?
In first year I felt overwhelmed, and getting used to online learning has been a challenge. However as I progress into my second year I have become more organised, focused, and used to my degree contents (politics, government affairs, history, etc). I am able to make a timetable to suit my lifestyle and getting around to classes is not a problem. I also dont feel hesitant to talk to my lecturers and tutors as they are well informed in the subjects they teach and listen to my opinions.
-MESSAGE FOR JAPANESE UNI STUDENTS
In Adelaide University there are many support services for international students. Adelaide University already has a large community of Asian students such as Chinese, Indian, Korean, Hong Kongese, and Malaysian, so you won’t feel alone.
Also, Australian students love Japanese culture very much! There are local students learning Japanese at the university, and this year in 2022 there are clubs such as anime club, karaoke club, kendo club, and Japanese language & cultural club (JLACS). In JLACS, local students and Japanese meet together and practice language to each other. It’s really easy to make friends there, even if you feel your English is not good.

The reason that I choose to study at UinSA is the UniSA may not as famous as Uni Adelaide, but UniSA provide me with a sound knowledge of the political, behavioural and social since/ social work skills that can help me working in a diverse range of fields in social work and human services. Also UniSA has provide over 1000 hours placement that can help building my work experience.
HOW IS UNI LIFE?
Uni life in UniSA is relaxed and pleasant. UniSA provides students with a good learning environment. The library is the most suitable place for students to study. Of course, Uni life does not only include learning. UniSA has a huge gymnasium and different associations, which can provide students with rich after-school life. It provides students with multicultural communication places and social activities. Also, there are abundant volunteer activities that can help students better learn the local culture and adapt to the life of studying abroad.
-MESSAGE FOR JAPANESE UNI STUDENTS
UniSA’s diversified learning environment can help students contact cultural groups in different regions if you want to communicate with people from different countries. UniSA also has many things including Japanese culture, such as food, cultural associations (Kendo, etc.), Japanese learning courses and staff. If you don’t adapt to overseas life or home sick, you can always get help from UniSA.
おわりに
アデレードの大学生活、日本とは全然違うスタイルですよね。また、年間のスケジュールは、学期、学部によっても大きく変わってくるので参考程度にみてください。
長期休暇中には一時帰国をする人が多いですが、インターンをしたりアルバイトを増やしたりするのもいいですね。特に、アデレードでは、毎年ファームワークと呼ばれる１〜２ヶ月住み込みで、葡萄ピッキングなどのアルバイトの募集があります。時給も高いですし、珍しいものに挑戦してみるのも楽しいと思います。
